My Story:

I grew up in Connecticut and had very close family ties--especially with my mother and grandparents. As I grew up, my career took me to the West Coast where I met my husband. Over the years, my bond with my mother stayed a close one; and, though we now live in the Carolinas, when my mother became sick with cancer and eventually decided to undergo chemotherapy, I returned to Connecticut and was blessed to be able to spend the last few months of her life with her. After my mother's death in 2017, I spent additional time in Connecticut dealing with her estate.

My wellness practices while in Connecticut brought me in touch with the Wu Healing Center and Dr. Wu--and introduced me to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) including Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Tui Na, and Tong Ren. There were many branches of my life that all came together around this same time to make this possible including a sharp pain in my upper arm which turned out to be calcific tendonitis and a Western-medicine doctor whose solution was that I could have an operation when the pain became too great.

While I no longer have that sharp pain in my upper arm, I remember it being intense enough to wake me at night. There are a lot of factors that played into that healing, but TCM certainly was one of them--and surgery, I am happy to say, was not. While I went for an X-ray to determine the issue, I have a strong sense of self, know my body, and felt surgery was not the path for me to explore first. This allowed me to say "No" to the doctor who suggested surgery as the only option and allowed for me to explore more holistic methods of healing, including Qi Gong, Tong Ren, and Tui Na.

By knowing myself and my body, I was able to use other methods to heal. There was no one exercise or pill to fix it, and it was not a quick fix--but through diet and exercise and mental clarity, I am happy to say that I no longer have that upper arm pain.

This is just one example of how I have seen a benefit in my life through the use of TCM. I hope to share Qi Gong and Tong Ren with others and bring them similar benefits. While all certainly are welcome in my classes, my main focus for Qi Gong is the senior living community. I love the feedback I hear about how much these practice benefits my participants in mind, body, and spirit. I have started to incorporate other stretches and Qi Gong exercises learned from other resources to build a unique and holistic class for people of all ages and abilities. All of my classes and sessions are currently being led online. Please reach out for more information.

Services I offer

Fengyang Qi Gong

Fengyang Qi Gong was developed by Dr. Ming Wu, based on his 40 years of experience practicing Qi Gong and Tai Chi. It is an easy-to-learn exercise method and practice routine that is more suitable for the purpose of improving one’s health and wellness, and spiritual alignment of the body and mind.

Fengyang Qi Gong combines the essence of traditional Yang style Tai Chi, Fengyang Internal Practice (内功) and Taoist philosophy, such as Chuang Tzu's teachings.

Tong Ren Healing

Developed by Tom Tam, Tong Ren is a form of energy therapy for restoring health and vitality. Tong Ren is based on a belief that disease is related to interruptions, or blockages, in the body’s natural flow of chi, neural bioelectricity, blood, or hormones. Tong Ren seeks to remove these blockages, restoring the body’s natural ability to heal itself, even when illnesses are chronic, debilitating, or otherwise untreatable.
